Hay at the End of the Day

Perfect ending to a great summer day

Every July, they start cutting the grass out where I live and for some reason I find it hard to resist photographing freshly cut hay bales. So, at about seven this evening, I asked Donna if she wanted to take the dog for a walk to the end of our street. Knowing the sun would be setting, I grabbed my camera just in case I saw something inspirational. Did I ever! As the sun was making its way to the horizon, the green in the grass at a farm across County Line Road lit up like neon. I snapped away and this shot was my prize. I think the rain we received this afternoon helped make it happen. It’s incredibly satisfying when all the elements come together! Lovely! I see these scenes quite frequently as I live out in a rural area. Beautiful, isn’t it?

Thanks ladies! Moving out to the “country” was quite an adjustment at first. We live at 7300 feet so the winters are more harsh. But when you get used to the space and the natural beauty around you, it would be really tough to give it up. I appreciate the positive feedback on the photo. I do think I will paint this soon in the landscape format.
